When it comes to the Derek Chauvin trial, Joe Biden’s not saying, per se … he’s just, you know, just sayin’:

"They’re a good family, and they’re calling for peace and tranquility, no matter what that verdict is," President Biden says. "I’m praying that the verdict is the right verdict, which I think, it’s overwhelming in my view." pic.twitter.com/00IRJ6tZn8

Pres. Biden on the Derek Chauvin trial: “I am praying the verdict is the right verdict, which is, I think it’s overwhelming in my view. I wouldn’t say that unless the jury was sequestered now and not hear me say that.”

He’s just trying to nudge the jurors in the right direction. Hopefully his words will eventually get to them, even though they’re sequestered:
Admitting he waited until the jury was sequestered is really something in this clip. https://t.co/6IClOfA177

It really is.
Nah, sequestered or not, this is bad form.

This seems like an unwise thing for a president to say in the middle of jury deliberations. https://t.co/ut7XXvjGL7

Recommended
The Chauvin jury is sequestered, and in theory cut off from news from the outside world, which should reduce the chances of Biden's comment leading to a mistrial. But still seems like a reckless thing to say.

If I'm Chauvin's attorney, I'm already making another motion for a mistrial. https://t.co/KEcCmaLWtR

It’s almost as if Dems like Joe Biden want to give Chauvin’s defense team ammunition. They do love themselves a good, old-fashioned riot, after all. A mistrial would likely result in one, as, of course, would the “wrong” verdict.
What if instead of doing this, politicians just didn't. https://t.co/bwATwIQcRa

So apparently leaders staying quiet until the verdict comes is over.
Another broken norm. https://t.co/vtyJVT2Tpe

Some norms are just more equal than others.
thank goodness we no longer have a president who throws himself into the center of contentious issues in which he has no business weighing in. https://t.co/aB3Pf9nkjI

Remember — if Trump said something like this, it would have been the end of America and a threat to Our Democracy.
— Comfortably Smug (@ComfortablySmug) April 20, 2021
But Joe Biden said it, so it’s fine.
So justice-y https://t.co/Uf4YipsohO
