Not often, but every once in a while, Twitter can be a force for good.
And other times, it’s just a public platform for garbage people to show everyone that they’re garbage people.
That’s certainly the case for Axios’ China reporter Bethany Allen-Ebrahimian, who recently opted to use Twitter to shame her brother and niece to her 56,000-plus Twitter followers:
Axios reporter sneers at her niece because she is getting married young and isn’t going to college. They seriously despise you. pic.twitter.com/hGaB7pu0Ik

I’m sure she’s really lovely to be around at family gatherings

We have no doubt.
Why would you call out your own family for clout on social media?

I just wouldn’t drag my family like that simply because their choices were slightly different

Beyond the culture-war sneering: Don't side against your siblings in public. https://t.co/eqQTdYKCjR

I can't imagine having the mindset that making it's more important to make a vague political point than it is to keep family disagreements private and maintain a healthy relationship with my siblings and nieces and nephews.

College sure seems to have made this reporter a happy person… pic.twitter.com/94vGgKJCES

Ultimately, nastiness like Allen-Ebrahimian’s stems from one thing:
They want everyone to be just as miserable as them.
