NBC News' Dylan Byers hopes departing BuzzFeed editor-in-chief Ben Smith will 'aim for the jugular' at the New York Times

As Twitchy told you, BuzzFeed editor-in-chief Ben Smith is bidding farewell to the media outlet he’s helmed for the past eight years and heading for the New York Times, whose reputation is currently not much better than BuzzFeed’s. He’ll be a media columnist there.

Well, NBC News and MSNBC senior media reporter Dylan Byers has high hopes for Smith. Though maybe it wasn’t just Dylan’s hopes that were high when he wrote this:

Yeah. Ben Smith will be in the heart of the media beast. Voluntarily. We’re sure he’ll “aim for the jugular.” Hit the media where it really hurts, like any stunning and brave firefighter would!

The fact that he’s serious just makes it funnier.
