Teen climate activist Greta Thunberg tells Congress 'I don't want you to listen to me'

Swedish teenage climate activist was in D.C. today to testify before Congress:

Yeah! Scientists!

Wait a second …

If Greta Thunberg thinks lawmakers should be listening to scientists, then why is she testifying? Here, let her explain:

“I have not come to offer any prepared remarks at this hearing,” Thunberg told lawmakers at the hearing. “I am instead attaching my testimony. It is the IPCC Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5°C [the SR1.5] which was released on Oct. 8, 2018. I am submitting this report as my testimony because I don’t want you to listen to me. I want you to listen to the scientists. And I want you to unite behind the science. And then I want you to take action.”

OK …

Both of those are excellent questions. Guessing the answer to the latter isn’t carbon-neutral. And the answer to the former? Well, for one thing, scientists are not unanimous when it comes to climate change. And let’s face it: They’re not nearly as glamorous and thought-provoking as a teenage girl.

Speaking of teenage girls, why is a terrified teenage girl being thrust into the international spotlight? Why is she living each day in fear of the earth melting instead of worrying about how she’s going to balance homework with after-school activities? When push comes to shove, adults have indeed let Greta Thunberg down. But the adults who have let her down are the same ones who should be looking out for her welfare. Instead, they’re instilling her with perpetual fear and using her as a mouthpiece for their agenda. And that’s the most shameful aspect of all of this.
