Journalism! Yahoo fans the flames of nonexistent outrage over Chris Pratt's Gadsden Flag t-shirt

What’s that old saying? When you can’t find a real outrage, just manufacture one.

On the heels of breathless reports about nonexistent backlashes over a black Little Mermaid and a female Terminator comes this scoop from Yahoo! Entertainment on Chris Pratt’s problematic t-shirt:

Seriously, this is what the supposed uproar is over:

Hanna Flint writes:

Although it is one of the symbols and flags used by the U.S. Men’s Soccer Team, over the years the flag has been adopted by Far Right political groups like the Tea Party, as well as gun-toting supporters of the Second Amendment.

It has therefore become a symbol of more conservative and far right individuals and, according to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission of the US, it also is “sometimes interpreted to convey racially-tinged messages in some contexts.”

It’s why some people are critical of Pratt wearing a T-shirt featuring the Gadsden flag iconography.

Many have posted their feelings about it on Twitter.

“Many have posted.” Can you guess how many is “many,” according to Flint’s article? Four. Four people. Including one person who deleted their tweet. The three people who didn’t delete their tweets have a combined following of around 3,000. But “many.”

Pathetic.

Do better, Yahoo. Honestly, when you’re starting out from a point this low, that shouldn’t be difficult.
