Bless his heart: Max Boot deems Steven Mnuchin's middle finger to Dems 'another impeachable offense'

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin has officially denied House Ways and Means Chair Richard Neal’s request to release Donald Trump’s 2013-2018 tax returns:

Mnuchin writes:

As you have recognized, the Committee’s request is unprecedented, and it presents serious constitutional questions, the resolution of which may have lasting consequences for all taxpayers. Accordingly, the Department of the Treasury has consulted with the Department of Justice concerning the lawfulness of your request. As explained in my April 23 letter, the Committee’s statutory authority under section 6103(f) is bound by Congress’ authority under the Constitution, and the Supreme Court has held that the Constitution requires that Congressional information demands must reasonably serve a legitimate legislative purpose.

Seems pretty straightforward, and that explanation should be enough to satisfy sensible people. But it’s not good enough for Max Boot. Oh no. To Boot, it’s just another piece of the impeachment puzzle falling into place:

This is red meat, of course, for Boot’s fellow Resisters:

Meanwhile, the rest of us are over here trying to figure out what was so heinously offensive and impeachment-worthy about Mnuchin’s explanation.

If he does, he’s doing a great impression of someone who doesn’t. Alternatively, it’s possible that he does in fact know and just doesn’t care. In either case, he’s demonstrated that he’s nothing more than a tiresome hack.

That’s apparently the argument Boot’s going for, yeah.

That’s Max in a nutshell.
