As Twitchy told you, Beto O’Rourke has unveiled his brave new plan to eliminate carbon emissions by 2050. His foot-dragging when it comes to reversing climate change probably won’t sit well with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. It certainly isn’t sitting well with AOC’s fellow Green New Deal warriors at Sunrise Movement:

.@BetoORourke: this is not what the "latest science demands" and a 2050 net-zero emissions goal is not in line with the #GreenNewDeal. pic.twitter.com/mgWOIjEaME

Leading UN scientists say we need to reduce emissions globally 40-60% by 2030 in order to avoid the worst impacts of climate change & get to net-zero emissions globally by 2050.
To achieve that, the US must do much more, much faster.

That's why the #GreenNewDeal calls for a 10-year mobilization to move to net-zero emissions.
Weeks ago, Beto told students he supported the “goal of getting to “net-zero” carbon emissions by the year 2030.”
But now he appears to be walking that back.https://t.co/i1zxiKvX3Q

Beto claims to support the Green New Deal, but his plan is out of line with the timeline it lays out and the scale of action that scientists say is necessary to take here in the United States to give our generation a livable future.

If @BetoORourke wants to earn the support of young people he needs to show he’s ready to stand up to the oil and gas lobby and push for the scale and speed of action we need through a #GreenNewDeal and by signing the #NoFossilFuelMoney Pledge.

Transforming our economy over a decade won't be easy, but if we fall short of these goals, the consequences will be unimaginable: by 2050 there could be 100 million climate refugees, all the world's coral reefs could be gone, and tens of millions could die.
— Sunrise Movement ? (@sunrisemvmt) April 29, 2019
Some say it's not possible, but when did America become a country that was afraid to take on big challenges and do what’s necessary, even when we’re told it’s not possible?

Ruh-roh …
That's all I needed to read to withdraw my support for @BetoORourke. #ClimateChange is the biggest threat to the future of our species and should be at the forefront of everyone's agenda.

Beto watch out!
The children are displeased. The children will have vengeance. https://t.co/IG8TDYgJKZ

So much schadenfreude, so little time.
