Remember when BuzzFeed ran with that highly dubious story about Donald Trump allegedly directing Michael Cohen to lie? Remember when Jason Leopold, who co-authored the piece with Anthony Cormier, contradicted Cormier by claiming to have seen evidence proving Trump’s guilt? Remember when Robert Mueller’s office dismissed BuzzFeed’s scoop as “not accurate”? Remember all of that? Remember how bad BuzzFeed looked?
Well, today, BuzzFeed looks even worse. The Mueller report categorically refutes BuzzFeed’s story:
BuzzFeed story turns out not to be true…

NEW: special counsel Mueller's report directly contradicts BuzzFeed's bombshell story
BF: Cohen told Mueller "the president personally instructed him to lie"
Mueller: Cohen said "the President did not direct him to provide false testimony"https://t.co/nx9eGj7DGr

More from the Daily Caller:
But Mueller’s report states that “Cohen said that he and the President did not explicitly discuss whether Cohen’s testimony about the Trump Tower Moscow project would be or was false, and the President did not direct him to provide false testimony. Cohen also said he did not tell the President about the specifics of his planned testimony.”
The special counsel’s report concluded that while there is evidence “that the President knew Cohen provided false testimony to Congress about the Trump Tower Moscow project, the evidence available to us does not establish that the President directed or aided Cohen’s false testimony.”
BuzzFeed spokesman Matt Mittenthal declined to comment in an email to The Daily Caller News Foundation.
Well, naturally. If we were him, we’d want to run away, too.
Great job, @BuzzFeedNews

Right? BuzzFeed’s usually so above-board with everything.
McClatchy and Buzzfeed have a lot of explaining to do.

Has there even been consequences to @BuzzFeedNews for this? I’m unaware that there was.

Not by the media. And not by themselves.
