In case you missed it, at her town hall last night, aspiring POTUS Elizabeth Warren reassured her audience that she’s going to “improve safety” by fighting for stricter gun control measures. That includes preventing people on the terrorist watch list from buying guns:
Warren endorses preventing people on the terror watchlist from being able to buy guns: "Background checks. At the federal level. No fly, no buy. Like if you're on the terrorist watchlist, maybe you shouldn't be able to buy a gun." pic.twitter.com/qjJgjRD1of

So, it’s all about keeping guns out of the hands of terrorists. Except it’s really not. As the Washington Examiner’s Siraj Hashmi explains, what Warren is advocating won’t fix any existing problems, but it will sure as heck create some pretty awful ones:
days after one of the worst mass shootings against muslims in recent memory, both elizabeth warren & kirsten gillibrand are subtly targeting muslims and arabs in the u.s. with the no fly, no buy gun proposal.
the terror watchlist is arbitrary and circumvents due process. period. https://t.co/zSlnFHaFQH

i explain more on this in this thread: https://t.co/5Ef7pNx5fI

Hashmi addressed this very issue in a thread yesterday. Take a moment to read it:
the left’s push to ban people on the terror watchlist from purchasing a gun is inherently islamophobic and anti-arab bc you don’t have to be a convicted criminal to end up on the list. you could simply share a name with a terrorist to get on there. https://t.co/0vxBqInO9p
— siraj hashmi (@SirajAHashmi) March 18, 2019
and if you’re not convicted of a crime, why should your rights be restricted?
— siraj hashmi (@SirajAHashmi) March 18, 2019
the no-fly, no-buy gun proposal pushed by democrats after the pulse nightclub shooting in 2016 is a direct threat to everyone’s right to due process.
— siraj hashmi (@SirajAHashmi) March 18, 2019
the issue is that the government arbitrarily makes up watchlists of people and use that to restrict their rights when they haven’t been given due process. the govt should not be allowed to take away your rights even if you’re innocent.
— siraj hashmi (@SirajAHashmi) March 18, 2019
just a note to play devil’s advocate with gun control proponents particularly in the trump era: if you view the government is becoming more authoritarian, wouldn’t you want a gun to protect yourself should they come after you for your race/religion/ethnicity/sexual preference?
— siraj hashmi (@SirajAHashmi) March 18, 2019
One would think. But Elizabeth Warren and her fellow gun grabbers don’t think; they just feel. For them, emotions trump all logic and common sense — and that’s a recipe for disaster.
And there is ZERO due process involved.
The just put you on the list; they don't even have to notify you.

And people don't seem to realize that our names that trip those lists are the Desi and Arab equivalents of "John Smith".

Shukran brother i was on a no fly list in the 90s bc i have the same name as an IRA terrorist
— jamie (@jamie_symc) March 19, 2019
Wasn't @stephenfhayes on the watch list falsely for a bit?

Punishing someone because you think they will commit a crime, but have not, is basically pre-crime from Minority Report. Either you have committed a crime or you haven’t. There is no in-between.

Great take. People never seem to understand that if you give the government the power to restrict freedoms on dubious claims then those restrictions can be used against anyone, including minorities and political opponents.
