Yesterday, Seth MacFarlane took “conservative news entitities” to task for failing to adequately defend CNN’s Jim Acosta after the White House revoked Acosta’s press pass:
In 2009, the Obama administration tried to exclude Fox News from the press pool. They backed down after strong protests from the rest of the press, who saw it as unjust, and defended Fox News. It’s very telling that we see no conservative news entities defending CNN today.

It’s nice that MacFarlane actually acknowledges that Barack Obama could be plenty hostile toward the press, but putting the Trump administration’s bruising of Jim Acosta’s ego on the same level as Obama’s exclusion of Fox News is pretty disingenuous.

Well that is because CNN isn't excluded, only @Acosta, they could assign another reporter and be in.

Probably because CNN isn’t losing their rights – only Acosta. If CNN lost their ability to cover WH events, then yes, an outcry would be deserved. However, this is about the behavior of one reporter in particular.

Also, it's not an entire network being banned this time. It's one individual who continually refuses to act with respect for other reporters, respect towards @PressSec or @POTUS and cannot act with proper press briefing decorum. @Acosta is a rude, argumentative jerk.

Also worth noting: As far as we know, Donald Trump has yet to sic the government on individual journalists who get in the way of his narrative. The same can’t be said of his predecessor.
