Over the weekend, Twitter rando @kaleidoscopeken dropped this white-hot take on the NRA:

“Defund the NRA” and use that money to pay teachers! Why didn’t someone think of that before???
Yes, reducing federal funds to the NRA could totally be used to increase the salaries of teachers who are paid by state governments. Excellent idea. Need more minds like this in office????

Especially since the federal government doesn’t fund the NRA in the first place

Whoops! Well, @kaleidoscopeken, like, totally knew that:

Suuuuuuure, ken.
Yeah, no. It's very obvious you thought the NRA receives government funding, that it should stop receiving government money and give that money to teachers.

But that’s OK. Because the original tweet still got over 21,000 retweets. Including one from Parkland gun control crusader Emma González:
May we offer you a bit of advice, Emma González? If you’re going to retweet something to push your agenda, you should probably make sure the source knows what the hell they’re talking about.
here we have the gun control activist @Emma4Change, who the left has propped up, retweeting someone claiming that the NRA is funded by the government.
Incredible. pic.twitter.com/TnYmStOngd

It’s really not so incredible, though. Emma González — like so many of her fellow gun control activists — is more interested in emotional appeals than fact-based ones. And that reason, among others, is why they’ll never persuade gun rights advocates to take them seriously.

HOLY CRAP
SHE ACTUALLY RETWEETED THAT GARBAGE!?!?

And these are the people that want to dictate legislation.
