This past July, 32-year-old Kate Steinle was shot and killed on Pier 14 in San Francisco. Sanchez, the accused murderer and an illegal immigrant, had been deported five times before the murder, but because of San Francisco’s status as a sanctuary city, he knew he could avoid another deportation. And indeed, when he was arrested in March on marijuana sales charges, he should have been deported again. Instead, the office of Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi released him. And in another twist, Mirkarimi had reportedly formerly been the spokesman for the attorney representing Sanchez.
Now, Mirkarimi is running for re-election, and actor Danny Glover wants San Franciscans to keep him in office:
#SF Voters, today is the day! YES on Prop I and YES on Prop F. I also support Ross Mirkarimi for Sheriff!
— Danny Glover (@mrdannyglover) November 3, 2015
Apparently Mr. Glover isn’t getting too old for ignorance.
