Remember when last week, President Obama called the Umpqua Community College “something we should politicize”? And then a few days later, Josh Earnest told the White House press corps that the president’s visit to Roseburg to meet with the victims’ families wouldn’t be about politics?
And then Earnest reassured us again today?
Some in Roseburg oppose the @POTUS visit, fearing he'll use it to make the case for more gun control measures. WH says that won't happen.

"Those individuals have nothing to fear," says @PressSec of Roseburg residents worried Pres Obama will make statement on gun control.

Totally not politicizing this visit. https://t.co/eInrHLGNc6https://t.co/s3jBvJdjOu

Looks like Josh was wrong:
In brief remarks after meeting with families of shooting victims in Roseburg, Pres Obama says words aren't enough at moments like this.

The president spoke of the need to come together, and how meeting with the families reminds that shooting victims could be your child.

Seriously?
"We should politicize this." https://t.co/YzrbEXGvSs

Every. Single. Time.
"We're going to have to come together as a country," said @POTUS about shooting incidents, "but today is about the families."

Is it, Mr. President? Is it?
"We’re gonna have to come together & figure out how do we stop things like this from happening," he said in Roseburg. pic.twitter.com/NysApoAZ5N

"So, we're gonna have to come together as a country to see how we can stop these incidents from taking place," said @POTUS in Roseburg.

I thought we already came together and decided to politicize it. https://t.co/B9oVNnEsaI

There is always more politicizing that can be done. And if anyone can figure out how to do it, it’s Obama.
Pres Obama alluded to the need for new gun control measures, but did not utter the phrase in his brief remarks in Roseburg.

Pretty slick there, POTUS.

He can’t help himself.
@markknoller @POTUS He just can't help himself, can he? There always has to be some insidious comment attached to someone else's grief.
