'I could see this one from Alaska': Hey journos, 'stupid' Sarah Palin was right about Ukraine all along

Boy, that Sarah Palin sure is a dunce, isn’t she? Just ask “real journalist” Blake Hounshell, who was quite tickled when Palin said this back in 2008:

After the Russian Army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama’s reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia’s Putin to invade Ukraine next.

Seriously, how stupid could she be? More from Hounshell:

As we’ve said before, this is an extremely far-fetched scenario. And given how Russia has been able to unsettle Ukraine’s pro-Western government without firing a shot, I don’t see why violence would be necessary to bring Kiev to heel.

Worth noting that foreign policy expert Matt Yglesias also dismissed the idea of Russia getting heavily involved in Ukraine:

Fast-forward to today, with Russian troops marching into Crimea. Hounshell ought to be a sputtering mess right about now, trying to figure out how he could’ve been so wrong. Palin, on the other hand …

Damn straight, she was.

Good. Hounshell deserves to get called out for his condescending douchiness.

Palin herself took a moment to hit back at those who had so gleefully derided her:

From Palin’s Facebook page:

Yes, I could see this one from Alaska. I’m usually not one to Told-Ya-So, but I did, despite my accurate prediction being derided as “an extremely far-fetched scenario” by the “high-brow” Foreign Policy magazine. Here’s what this “stupid” “insipid woman” predicted back in 2008: “After the Russian Army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama’s reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia’s Putin to invade Ukraine next.”

Bam!

Logic would dictate that Hounshell and co. feel like tools. But it’s tough for lapdogs to ‘fess up to their mistakes.

That’d be nice … but, well, spinners gotta spin. If Hounshell (or Yglesias) decides to address it at all, the headline will probably be something more like this:

(Thanks to Jammie Wearing Fools for the tip!)
