'This is a joke': MSNBC's Thomas Roberts doesn't know what talking points are [video]

As Twitchy reported, this morning, President Obama once again took to the stage to blame Republicans for the government shutdown and castigate them for opposing Obamacare. Shortly thereafter, RNC Chair Reince Priebus sat down with MSNBC’s Thomas Roberts to discuss it all.

That’s when this little gem emerged:

Hold. The. Phone. We have got to go to the videotape for this:

Transcript:

Roberts: “The president said, though, that he’s willing to negotiate with Republicans about the law and what it means when they come to him for solutions and ideas. But why do we need to attach the solutions, or changes, that go along with a law that has been vetted by the Supreme Court, by a mandate from the people reelecting the president, and both houses of Congress, why should that be attached to shutting down the government, and, as the president is saying, basically, writing a ransom note and asking for some type of goody-bag in response to Congress doing its job to govern?”

Priebus: “Well, those are some pretty good talking points.”

Roberts: “They’re not talking points. That’s directly from what the president just gave a speech on.”

Uhhh …

Roberts is supposed to be a journalist? Inconceivable!

Tell us more, Mr. Journalist!

Snort.

We’ll let Priebus have the last word:

“This is a joke. I think you ought to apply for a job in the Obama administration or in the communications department at the DNC.”

Roberts would fit in. What a hack.
