Jersey City Medical Center spokesman Mark Rabson said 13 Jersey City firefighters were treated at the Medical Center, 12 for heat exhaustion or smoke inhalation, and one with an ankle injury. A Bayonne firefighter was treated at the Bayonne Medical Center and 30 firefighters were treated at the scene, Rabson said.
An emergency medical technician at the scene collapsed on the sidewalk and was being treated at the scene. At the time of the fire the temperature hovered near 100-degree mark and meteorologists reported that it felt like it was 108 degrees.
We pray for the health and safety of all those involved.
