And how!
Massachusetts Democrat Stephen Lynch pulled no punches this morning in his questioning of former IRS commissioner Douglas Shulman. Shulman twisted and squirmed, but Lynch only tightened his grip:
Lynch to Shulman: Did you confer with Miller before testifying. Shulman: To the best of my knowledge I did. Lynch: Lerner? Shulman: No.
— Judge Remit Shenanigan (@vermontaigne) May 22, 2013
Shulman to Lynch: I said no targeting in the *sense* . . . Lynch: You said there was absolutely no targeting. Shulman: In the sense . . .
— Judge Remit Shenanigan (@vermontaigne) May 22, 2013
Lynch: What was the basis for your statement that there was "absolutely no targeting" going on. Shulman: In the sense . . .
— Judge Remit Shenanigan (@vermontaigne) May 22, 2013
Shulman's answer to Lynch (Dem) is sounding like: "So, what happened was…then it was like…what I'm trying to say…"
— Cindy Cooper (@CindyCoops) May 22, 2013
Lynch: After telling Congress there's no one being targeted, you learn that there's a list. You do nothing to straighten out . . .
— Judge Remit Shenanigan (@vermontaigne) May 22, 2013
Lynch: So, are you saying they weren't being targeted because other political groups were being targeted? Shulman: No . . .
— Judge Remit Shenanigan (@vermontaigne) May 22, 2013
"Sir, you misled Congress" -Dem. Lynch to Shulman #IRS

Rep Stephen Lynch D-MA to ex IRS chief: "Sir, you misled Congress, make no question about it"
— Jamie Dupree (@jamiedupree) May 22, 2013
"You misled Congress…that's inexcusable" Rep. Lynch — also noted that Shulman didn't amend his statements after #IRS list was discovered

Lynch to Shulman:After leading Congress to believe there was no targeting, u learned of a list of people being targeted, & you did nothing.
— Jedediah Bila (@JedediahBila) May 22, 2013
Lynch: When you learned there was a list, you did nothing, allowed Congress to proceed under prior info that was untrue.
— Judge Remit Shenanigan (@vermontaigne) May 22, 2013
Lynch also echoes the sentiments of all sane people–that it's inexcusable that Shulman didn't report his updated findings to Congress.

#Derp MT @talkradio200: Shulman: Conservative groups were not only ones targeted. Lynch: So other groups were targeted? Shulman: No. #IRS

Mr Lynch (D) also ripping into Shulman, about misleading congress. He's one angry Congressman!

Good. He should be. What the IRS did is criminal.
Citizens were enthralled — and grateful to Rep. Lynch for refusing to let Shulman off the hook:
Great question from @RepStephenLynch.

Props to Rep. Lynch going HARD at this Shulman clown from the IRS.

Indeed. This is what oversight looks like. And it’s glorious to behold.
