Will the Senate pass a resolution to honor the late Margaret Thatcher? Not if Sen. Bob Menendez has anything to say about it.
As the Daily Caller reported yesterday — and National Review’s Ramesh Ponnuru has evidently confirmed — Menendez is responsible for holding up a proposed Senate resolution to “honor the life, legacy, and example of British Prime Minister Baroness Margaret Thatcher.”
@DLoesch @RameshPonnuru What an Idiot! What possible reason could Menendez have to hold a simple resolution to honor Margaret Thatcher!

Paying tribute to a champion of freedom is apparently just not that important to the priorities-challenged senator.

Senator Menendez would totally be for the Thatcher resolution if some underage hookers he didn't have to pay were involved.

It is an absolute disgrace the U.S. Senate is not giving Margaret Thatcher the honor she is due https://t.co/NfN5bm1KB8
— Senator Ted Cruz (@SenTedCruz) April 16, 2013
It is — but what else would you expect from a disgrace like Menendez?

Update:
Sen. Menendez proposed his own version of a resolution:

Unfortunately for him, the effort didn’t pan out. The resolution in its original language has just passed:
The Senate just adopted the resolution honoring Lady Margaret Thatcher by unanimous consent.

Very happy to see Senate Democrats finally stopped objecting to a resolution honoring the life of Margaret Thatcher.
