Joe Scarborough, Piers Morgan attack Wayne LaPierre for pro-gun-rights op-ed

NRA Chief Wayne LaPierre penned an op-ed for The Daily Caller in which he asserted the importance of the Second Amendment in modern American society. Perish the thought that there are situations that might require self-defense! MSNBC hack Joe Scarborough certainly can’t fathom such a notion, and he registered his outrage with a Twitter tirade:

On today’s “Morning Joe,” he continued:

Those “racial overtones,” according to Scarborough? The op-ed’s mentions of “Hispanic drug gangs” and “those terrible people in Brooklyn.” For the record, this is what LaPierre actually wrote:

Latin American drug gangs have invaded every city of significant size in the United States. Phoenix is already one of the kidnapping capitals of the world, and though the states on the U.S./Mexico border may be the first places in the nation to suffer from cartel violence, by no means are they the last.

After Hurricane Sandy, we saw the hellish world that the gun prohibitionists see as their utopia. Looters ran wild in south Brooklyn. There was no food, water or electricity. And if you wanted to walk several miles to get supplies, you better get back before dark, or you might not get home at all.

What does it say about Scarborough that he automatically assumes that LaPierre is referring to minorities when he refers to Brooklyn looters? Maybe he and MSNBC colleague Chris Matthews need to audit a sensitivity-training course.

Piers Morgan, not content to sit out of an NRA-bashing session, weighed in on LaPierre’s op-ed with his own deep thoughts:

Uglier than the filth spewed by Morgan on a daily basis?

Bingo. Those graves aren’t going to dance on themselves.
