Outgoing Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown is headed back to DC today to join his colleagues for last-minute fiscal cliff negotiations. President Obama has also cut his own $4 million Hawaiian vacation short to be there for the proceedings. Conservatives aren’t really convinced that Obama’s presence will mitigate the gravity of our financial situation, but this afternoon, Brown posted a message to his Facebook page suggesting that there might be a light at the end of the tunnel:
Just one problem: It wasn’t serious. Because no such proposal was ever put forth. After a mild media frenzy, White House sources revealed the truth:
Senior WH official tells NBC News: "There is no proposal being sent up today. Scott Brown is wrong."

A Senate GOP leadership aide responds to Scott Brown's post: "Sounds like an over-interpretation of our readout of the President’s call."

Brown’s faulty post unleashed a flood of mockery:
Given his breaking news talents, maybe Scott Brown could get a job on CNN's SCOTUS desk.

There are Twitter accounts I will use as GOP sources for stories (@StewSays for instance) Scott Brown's isn't one of them.
