Speaking earlier today to a crowd of 1,200 at a campaign event in Iowa, Romney took Obama to task for his ridiculous harping on Big Bird. Even the über-liberal Politifact awards the Romney-hates-Big-Bird meme its “pants on fire” rating.
Romney hits Obama for talking about Big Bird. Again, it was Romney who brought up Big Bird. Obama obsessed over it.

No kidding. Team Obama’s feather-brained obsession has been nonstop, bordering on deranged.
In an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, Romney made it clear that President Obama needs a serious priority check. It’s the American people who are at risk; Big Bird will get through this just fine.
Romney to Blitzer on CNN: "Big Bird is going to be just fine."

Romney to Blitzer on CNN: "PBS will be able to make it on its own, just like every one of the other stations."

Romney also took a swipe at CNN (who, incidentally, hired this guy as a contributor):
Romney to Wolf Blitzer: "I don't believe that CNN gets govt funding but somehow y'all stay on air"

Romney says PBS and Big Bird will be fine w/o government funding: "I don't believe CNN gets gov't funding."/ Fact check: True
