File under: Unexpectedly! Self-proclaimed gay rights advocate and anti-bullying crusader Dan Savage laid bare his intolerance once again, this time hurling the f*ggot-bomb at gay conservative organization GOProud. GOProud, you see, had the gall to stray from the Gay Left’s plantation and announce its support for Mitt Romney:
“The Board of Directors of GOProud voted to enthusiastically endorse Governor Romney’s candidacy for President,” said Lisa De Pasquale, interim Chair of the GOProud Board of Directors and the former Director of CPAC. “GOProud is prepared to commit significant resources to help make Mitt Romney the next President of the United States.”
…
“Most gay Americans – like their straight counterparts – are not better off than they were 4 years ago,” said Jimmy LaSalvia, GOProud Executive Director. “The truth is that gay people are living in the disastrous failed Obama economy too.”
“President Obama and his friends on the left want this election to be about divisive social issues, because the President’s record on jobs and the economy is indefensible,” continued LaSalvia. “At this critical juncture, we need a President with the experience and expertise to turn this economy around. Someone who knows how the free markets work – former Governor Mitt Romney is that candidate.”
“Not only does President Obama not understand how the free markets work – he is openly hostile to free market capitalism,” said LaSalvia. “President Obama’s repeated attacks on Governor Romney’s private sector record underscore this President’s fundamental lack of understanding of how our economy works. Instead of demonizing free markets, President Obama should be focused on creating an economic environment that encourages free market investments and creates jobs.”

…
“For far too long, the gay left in this country has been allowed to dictate what they believe qualify as ‘gay issues.’ We think that jobs, the economy, healthcare, retirement security and taxes are all ‘gay issues,’ and on every single one of those issues, Mitt Romney is light years better than President Obama,” said LaSalvia.
Well, this just didn’t sit well with Savage at all. What? The Gay Right can’t have gay rights! Gay conservatives aren’t people. Somebody get them to reeducation camp stat!
Twitterers were disgusted by Savage, and they let flow the righteous indignation:

@fakedansavage Glad to see you don't let politics get in the way of #tolerance. I just didn't know it was the same thing as #homophobic.

Snowball, hell … you know the drill.
For his part, GOProud co-founder Jimmy LaSalvia took the high road:
Hey @fakedansavage, It's only going to get better after we elect a new President in November. #homocon
— Jimmy LaSalvia (@JimmyLaSalvia) June 20, 2012
Unfortunately, gay conservatives like those in GOProud still face an uphill battle when it comes to winning the respect they deserve from their ideological counterparts:

@fakedansavage in addition to asking status/std info, its time we ask potential sex partners if they are GoProud & if so, NOT fuck them!

Twitchy stands with GOProud and condemns Dan Savage for his vicious bigotry. Put on your big-boy pants, Dan. It won’t get better until bullies like you man up and learn to disagree without resorting to base insults and verbal abuse.

Update:
Remember when Savage bullied a room full of high school students? For anyone needing a reminder of just how despicable that man is, Ben Howe has put out a fantastic new video.
Anti-bully? Please.
