The mother apparently suffered experienced some sort of medical episode.
KSAX-TV reports authorities were called Thursday evening to a home in rural Boyd. When deputies arrived, they found 28-year-old Joyce Whitmore unresponsive and on top of her 15-day-old baby, Skylar Shipley.

Police say the baby suffocated.
