Col. man shot to death while at a stoplight in his jeep

A man was shot and killed in the Denver suburb of Aurora this afternoon while waiting at a red light.

A man driving a red Jeep Cherokee had stopped northbound on Dayton behind a truck at a red light, [Officer Frank] Fania said.

A dark sport utility vehicle, possibly a Suburban, pulled up behind the Jeep, Fania said.

Someone got out of the SUV, walked up to the Jeep and fired several gunshots through the driver’s window, hitting the man behind the wheel, he said.

The killer got back into the SUV and it took off, Fania said.

The victim was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police are still looking for the killer.
