Following the deadly mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs took the opportunity to offer the United States some friendly advice:
Many Chinese grew up hearing a song that goes, “Fine wine for friends and shotguns for jackals.” We advise the US to listen to it. pic.twitter.com/N8rYhJ60et

We couldn’t help but feel like that sounded like a vague (or not-so-vague) threat. It also sounded like the Chinese government was maybe trying to lecture us on gun violence.
Well, with this tweet today from Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Lijian Zhao, it seems pretty clear that the ChiComs are really going to try to shame America over gun violence:
This is obviously a serious humanitarian crisis. And if the US government cannot solve it, then how could it still claim that it care about #humanrights ? pic.twitter.com/HZKoUXqVDU

The irony of a ChiCom government official lecturing another country on “a serious humanitarian crisis” should not be lost on anyone.
Especially on today of all possible days.
I heard there was a mass shooting in Beijing on this day in 1989. https://t.co/trWw4lhHAS

You heard right.

June 3 and 4 of 1989 were not banner days for human rights in China.
To watch the official chinese gov't tweet about gun violence in the US on the exact day of the Tiananmen Square massacre is one hell of a troll. https://t.co/7rVu1aB2Zd

It takes chutzpah, that’s for damn sure.
The Chinese government can try as hard as they want to, but they’ll never be able to erase the Tiananmen Square massacre from history.
And they’ll never be able to whitewash their own record on human rights.
You have zero moral authority working for a dictator in a country that systematically filters the truth of the internet and throws its own citizens in internment camps by the millions. Your citizens have no rights
