As Twitchy told you, University of Iowa’s TPUSA chapter put out a statement today rebuking Charlie Kirk and Candace Owens for trying to host an immigration event in the wake of Mollie Tibbetts’ murder. They have since backpedaled somewhat and also deleted the statement:
The original tweet and statement disappeared after Owens tweeted at them:
This is bizarre. We were never planning an immigration event? Who left you the voicemail?
— Candace Owens (@RealCandaceO) August 24, 2018
This is extremely dishonest. I never once contacted you guys to host an immigration event.
— Candace Owens (@RealCandaceO) August 24, 2018
This is a false flag. I was never ever ever doing an “anti-immigration” event, nor have I ever been to Iowa, now was I ever in touch with this chapter.
— Candace Owens (@RealCandaceO) August 24, 2018
Except it isn’t true. I never once was, or would ever host an “anti-immigration” event. I’m unsure who contacted them but this is 100% false. This tweet, in my opinion, is an exploitation of Molly’s death. It’s virtue signaling of the highest regard and using my name to do so.
— Candace Owens (@RealCandaceO) August 24, 2018
This seems like something you should for sure straighten out with them.
Also, her name was Mollie.

Believe me, I am all over this. This is absolutely disgusting. We might have our disagreements (you and I), but we agree that the idea of me doing an “anti-immigration” event in Mollie’s name would be gross.
— Candace Owens (@RealCandaceO) August 24, 2018
As gross as shaming one of Mollie Tibbetts’ supposed relatives for asking for respect for the family?
This is a lie. I never once was contacted about doing an event in Iowa. Not sure who contacted them or why they are claiming I was doing this event.
— Candace Owens (@RealCandaceO) August 24, 2018
That isn’t true. I have never had any conversation EVER about doing an event in Iowa. This tweet is dishonest as it makes it look like I was made aware of this. I was NOT.
— Candace Owens (@RealCandaceO) August 24, 2018
Are you going to correct your lie? They updated the tweets and apologized to us to the confusion.
Probably not bc you are a liar. No one resigned.
— Candace Owens (@RealCandaceO) August 24, 2018
It’s not cowardice to tell the truth. No event was ever planned or even discussed with my name on it. Charlie had an event planned on campus long before the terrible tragedy of Mollie Tibbetts death. I’m sorry to disappoint you, but there’s no drama here.
— Candace Owens (@RealCandaceO) August 24, 2018
Charlie had an event in the works on-campus long before the terrible news of Mollie’s death. I never was in talks, or ever discussed the possibility of doing an event. There is no story here.
— Candace Owens (@RealCandaceO) August 24, 2018
If UI TPUSA indeed mistakenly claimed that Owens and Charlie Kirk were trying to host an immigration event at University of Iowa, Owens does deserve an apology. However, her exchange with Tibbetts’ supposed relative earlier this week was nothing short of appalling. Owens needs to be making some apologies of her own.
