Leave it to The Young Turks to turn a basic economics lesson into a fever-dream blame game starring Israel.
While normal people look at gas, eggs, and Christmas lights and think “Biden-era inflation hangover plus supply chains,” Ana Kasparian informed viewers that lots of Americans won’t be able to afford Christmas this year because prices are “shooting up on behalf of Israel’s war against Iran.”
Yes, really.
And yes, I made the same face you're making right now. You knew I'd say that, right?
Every day I learn NOT to be shocked by how low these people will go ...
Because this is freaking low.

The Young Turks are not handling criticism well, towards their 'Israel' ad on behalf of Abdul El Sayed: Ana Kasparian: "I think a lot of Americans are not going to have a Christmas because they literally cannot afford it, given the price of everything shooting up on behalf of Israel's war against Iran." There's always an October surprise, and this year it's Cenk Uygur's ad helping out Mike Rogers.

The same outfit that produced the Rebellion PAC spot for Michigan Democrat Abdul El-Sayed — complete with the grocery-store couple solemnly setting aside money “for killing Palestinians” and a closer that casts Mike Rogers as the guy who cares more about Israelis (“they/them”) than Michiganders — apparently thinks the public just needs more of the same. The ad has already drawn rebukes from the ADL, former Obama officials, and even fellow Democrats like Haley Stevens, who called the fearmongering a loser strategy.
El-Sayed’s own campaign ran from it so fast they left tire marks.
Yet here comes Ana, doubling down on the idea that American holiday budgets are being wrecked specifically by support for the Jewish state rather than, say, years of spending, energy policy, or the actual size of the aid package relative to the rest of the federal budget. Cenk’s PAC has essentially delivered an in-kind contribution to Rogers by handing critics a textbook example of the dual-loyalty smear dressed up as populism.
CNN panelists, of all people, spotted the political malpractice immediately — one even compared the economic incoherence-plus-antisemitism combo to par for the course.
When your “October surprise” is an ad so toxic that it unites Smerconish, Van Jones, and Scott Jennings in collective cringe, and your co-host’s response is to keep blaming Jews for the Christmas tree budget, you’re not fighting the system. You’re just giving your opponent free airtime and reminding everyone why the Turks have been stuck in the same conspiratorial cul-de-sac for years.
Michigan voters can do the math without the blood-libel assist.
