When we moved to Virginia in 2016 I had NO IDEA how ridiculous this state was and had been for several years since Democrats took leadership. Don't get me wrong, I knew moving to the East Coast would land us in a much bluer (and therefore dumber) part of the country but I had no idea how far gone it really was. Forget that we'd left Wyoming which was at the time a red red red state and I could take for granted that progressive poison wouldn't take a stronghold on the state.
By the time we got to Virginia, it was too late. The state was a mess. A dark blue mess.
And then even when we were able to get involved it was nearly impossible to make any leeway because Republicans were running Corey Stewart against Tim Kaine. Yes, the same Tim Kaine Hillary Clinton chose for her VP running mate.
Guys, Stewart was a disaster. He was a Democrat's dream come true spouting out grossly ridiculous talking points that proved every ugly stereotype about the Right true.
Kaine won. Easily.
Then Ralph Northam won the governorship and yeah, that was a horrific four years here in Virginia. Thank God governors can't run for two terms in a row although if I'm being honest, I don't think Northam can win again since he all but nuked our state with lockdowns and mandates but that's another story.
Nope, it's time for Tim Kaine to run again ... hopefully, Republicans have a better candidate this time because we might actually be able to beat him this time around. Look at this:
My Senator is DEEPLY corrupt and used his office to enrich himself and his wife to the tune of millions of dollars!
— Andrew Follett (@AndrewCFollett) January 12, 2024
And he did that AFTER being warned by Senate Ethics! #VASen https://t.co/oNwuQKcqZq pic.twitter.com/U99hViKdLg
That he did it AFTER being warned tells you how untouchable he thinks he is.
From the Free Beacon:
Kaine's actions provided a financial and PR boost to George Mason University, where Holton now serves as professor of public policy and education. The school has received $121 million in emergency pandemic funding, including $68 million to make up for revenue lost during the pandemic. And George Mason in press releases at the time touted the White House appointment of Trent.
It's not the first time Kaine has faced conflict of interest allegations regarding his wife's employer. Kaine, a member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, obtained $3.5 million worth of earmarks in 2022 and 2023 for George Mason University, according to a 2023 report.
He's been doing it for years.
With zero consequences.
So now, Republicans must make a plan to beat this guy ... and for the first time, I feel like we have a chance. Don't get me wrong, when we weren't able to take the Senate (or even hold the House) it felt like a punch to the gut BUT there was some gerrymandering going on with new districts so that knowledge helped a little.
But Kaine and Warner are not popular in Virginia because Democrats at the national level aren't all that popular. Inflation, increased wars, more inflation, crime, the southern border, war in the Middle East. Democrats have proven to be a disaster, again. Plus this obvious corruption from Kaine?
Maybe we can actually put the a-hole out of a job.
