I have spent the last 24 hours or so ‘arguing’ with Bernie Bros. I say argue because very few if any of his supporters actually do more than just yell when you point out Bernie’s hypocrisy about vilifying the rich. And boy howdy, pointing out how he’s changed his rhetoric from going after millionaires to going after billionaires since he himself became a millionaire will really rile them up.
Which is what I did.
Yeah yeah yeah, I rile a lot of people up (it’s sort of what I do) but this one really wasn’t all my fault … this time. It all started with an AOC tweet:
If Republicans were willing to scrutinize billionaires *half* as much as they scrutinize people on food stamps, this country would be a much better place.
— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) December 7, 2019
YEAH! THOSE EVIL BILLIONAIRES!

But what about the evil millionaires? Are they ok now?
I asked …
What about millionaires like the guy you endorsed?
Spare us the virtue signaling. ?

And just guess how this went over with her followers …
Bernie was attacking millionaires who don't pay taxes, numbnuts. Nice mental gymnastics.
Wasn't a question, was a statement. You is thick.
— Sayeed Odin (@SahhidUddin1) December 8, 2019
Oooh, he called me numbnuts and accused me of mental gymnastics … while he defends Bernie for being an evil 1%r. This is hilarious.
Do you understand the difference between a million and a billion?

They always do this, especially when they can’t debate the issue at hand. I suppose part of it has to do with the fact that I’m a woman (not playing the sexist card, just from personal experience) and they think I’m younger … God love ’em.
???????? As you have in this tweet, Bernie gets “scrutinized” (and he would happily sacrifice his wealth for the poor). I think @AOC is talking about everyone else.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
Holy crap.
Biggest strawman I've ever seen. You're knowingly leaving out the fact that @BernieSanders is fighting against the millionaires who arent paying their taxes too
— In The Knuckles (@Sargnarg) December 7, 2019
It’s OK for Bernie to be a millionaire because he pays his taxes.
I told you guys, this is the best con I’ve seen in a long time. They are literally defending an evil rich guy who tells them evil rich guys like him are the problem. He’s convinced them it’s ok for HIM to be rich, just not anyone else.
Dude is a socialist through and through.
If a millionaire were to become a billionaire, they would have to make 1,000 times more than they actually do. Yeah, Bernie is wealthy, but to compare his wealth to that of billionaires is not even close.
— Scott Miller (@ScottyDoo123456) December 7, 2019
Honestly, I’m not sure if they actually missed the point about Bernie changing his rhetoric to suit his own earnings or if they were being deliberately obtuse. If Bernie magically became a billionaire he’d start attacking trillionaires … the amount doesn’t matter. What matters is the idea of wealth not being ok, unless it’s his.
"Virtue Signalling"…code term for "I borrow my brain from Breitbart because thinking for myself is hard"

I just sit back and laugh at these tweets.
I hope you do too.
