Putin has refused to release 35 American diplomats from Russia in retaliation for Obama’s ordering 35 Russian intelligence officers to leave the United States within 72 hours.
Because what better way to get tough with Russia than with bartering with human lives?
Per The Washington Examiner:
Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov proposed 31 American staff members be expelled from the American embassy in Moscow and four staff members be expelled from the consulate in St. Petersburg. However, the Associated Press reported about two hours later Putin refused to expel the 35 diplomats.
