Stupid BURNS! WAPO columnist repeats THIS fake news while complaining about other fake news

The media is collapsing on itself … and it’s glorious.

Fake news is the new hot topic, and the media is falling all over itself to prove THEY’RE not fake news, those other guys are. Yeah, that’s it.

Washington Post columnist Petula Dvorak tried to shame people covering PizzaGate calling it fake news while pushing her own fake news. She brought up the 2011 shooting in Tucson that was supposedly inspired by Gov. Sarah Palin and her “crosshairs” talking point and acted like it was real news, versus fake news. Can’t make this up.

From the Washington Examiner:

Here is what Dvorak wrote:

Five years ago, it wasn’t fake news but an equally careless use of words that helped incite an equally terrible burst of violence.

Supporters of former Alaska governor Sarah Palin put out a map with crosshairs targeting the districts of 20 House Democrats and urging folks: “Don’t Retreat, Instead — RELOAD!”

Then-Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) was on that map and criticized it as soon as it was posted online and her office was vandalized.

[…]

On Jan. 8, 2011, the consequences were chilling: Jared Loughner showed up with a gun outside a Tucson supermarket where Giffords was greeting constituents and killed six people and injured 20 more, including Giffords.

Of course it was never proven that the crosshairs comment inspired the attack, but it didn’t stop Dvorak from pretending it did so she could use that fake news to prove why other fake news is bad news. Or something.

Fake news is fake.
