Welp. It’s official.
Tom Nichols has jumped the shark.
There is no other explanation for this ri-damn-diculous tweet about how he for some reason trusts the Democrats more than the Republicans with the Constitution and the rule of law.
Don’t make that face, we didn’t write the tweet.
The only view I care about this cycle is respect for the Constitution. Everything else is a distant second. And my view is that preserving our system is a better bet with Dems than with the GOP.
We'll fight about abortion and guns tomorrow.
Today, it's about the rule of law. https://t.co/1prRMmsEXE

We’ll fight about abortion and guns tomorrow … really dude?
Full disclosure, this editor used to be a huge fan of Tom Nichols so seeing him write such tripe is actually troubling. It’s like Trump broke him.
Pretending that Democrats care about the Constitution or the rule of law must be nice in whatever world you saw that in.
— ConservativeBlackMan 🇯🇲🇺🇸 (@NevilleD35) November 6, 2018
Exactly. The party of President "I have a phone and a pen" is definitely the one that loves the Constitution.
— Tonya Vlasik (@lawgirl) November 6, 2018
Am I reading it correctly that he's either (a) not going to vote or (b) going to vote Republican despite the "long-term damage?"
Am I supposed to pretend that's some sort of principled stand, or can I mock it as being no better than the whining not-voting Millennials?
— Max Kennerly (@MaxKennerly) November 6, 2018
Tom should know better than to try and appease the Left, they’ll never accept him.
You think the Constitution is in better hands with Dems who have proved they have zero respect for that document even with their giant leap leftward? Sigh.
— Kaitlin (@thefactualprep) November 6, 2018
"We'll fight about guns and abortion tomorrow".
Dad… You do realize that the whole "guns and abortion" thing is part of the "respect for the Constitution" thing, right?
— Brian Nichols (@BNicholsLiberty) November 6, 2018
Tommy forgets that the 2nd amendment is a fundamental precept in the constitution as is the right to life. What good is respect for the constitution if you’re slaughtered in the womb or can’t defend your life?
— Kyle “Beto” Kashuv (@KyleKashuv) November 6, 2018
"preserving our system is a better bet with Dems than with the GOP" is insanely naive.
Democrats have exactly ZERO respect for the Constitution and, in fact, want to LITERALLY gut the first two Amendments to it.https://t.co/ZKxYwbF44a
— BonkPolitics (@BonkPolitics) November 6, 2018
“I care for respect of the Constitution”.
“it's about the rule of law.”
“our system is a better with Dems”
That’s a contradiction. Either you are a hypocrite, you have not read the Constitution, or have really not paid attention to Dem actions/proposals.https://t.co/wieChWdl3A
— Patrick (@ArgentineTea) November 6, 2018
You’re voting for Dems out of respect for the constitution? The same party that wants to gut the second amendment, silence conservatives’ first amendment rights, throw out the electoral college, and let illegal immigrants walk in and break our sovereign laws?
You’re a fraud.
— Mr. Stubborn (@obdurate_one) November 6, 2018
So then I'll go ahead and vote Republican…
— just alan (@anythingbutdem) November 6, 2018
You have lost your damn mind if you think Democrats give one thought about respect for the #Constitution. Seek help for your derangement syndrome.
— Gary HokieHawk (@grsvt81) November 6, 2018
Yeah, you just post stuff like this to make people mad.
— Patrick (@batman1793) November 6, 2018
That would be called trolling and yes, it’s definitely possible that’s what he’s doing.
If you have any concern in regards to the Constitution you would do everything in your power to keep Dem’s out of control. Keep pandering though I hope it helps you sell.

Great take, Tom.
