In December of last year, porn actress August Ames openly refused to do scenes with men who had been with other men because she felt it would be unsafe due to the industry’s lackluster testing for STDs. Many people in her own industry attacked the actress as being a bigot, but none so viciously as those in the gay/LGBT community:
Ames did eventually take her own life. The same people who were attacking the actress online took cover, deleted tweets and denied they had anything to do with her death.
Ames’ husband, Kevin Moore, finally released a statement through a blog on her site …
Words from August Ames’ husband, Kevin Moore. I’ve known Kevin since I started in porn. He is a wonderful man and my heart breaks for him. His words should be read by all https://t.co/ONptVFiwnp

And it is just heartbreaking.
From August Ames:
Mercedes (August) was magnetic. She had a kindness in her that I had never experienced before. I once had a shingles infection in my cornea that caused an erosion. I had to sit in a dark room wearing these crazy sunglasses. I was in incredible pain and couldn’t do anything. Moreso, I was horrible to be around. For those several weeks, she took care of me like no one ever. There was no one like her. No one who transformed my life in such a positive way. She made me a better person.
The night that she disappeared has played on repeat in my mind thousands of times. What could have I done differently? Guilt dominates my thoughts every day. I hate life without her. It is a cruel existence devoid of color.
This piece right here though:
I write this to make it crystal clear: Bullying took her life. If the harassment had not occurred, she would be alive today. She ended her life the day after the bullying began. To think they are unrelated is delusional. (read the entire blog here)
Wow heartbreaking

Me too. I just want to give him a hug. It definitely places clear blame on a few shoulders.

It does indeed.
Now that I got the whole story, I understand the situation and those who stated their opinion should think long and hard, then realize it’s their fault she’s gone. I feel for August husband and family

So sad to see the abuse piled onto women especially. My heart breaks for her family and friends left behind after her passing and for a life cut so tragically short because of abuse and bullying.

There’s a real problem on social media with few consequences for such behavior.
Abuse is abuse, whether it’s online or in person … and it can clearly be very dangerous.
RIP August.
