Ohio Gov. John Kasich made the pitch for his presidential candidate at the National Review Institute summit today.
Apparently, there are not enough moderate and squishy Republicans in the race willing to compromise core conservative principles.
Ohio watchdog and blogger Jason Hart, who has vigilantly chronicled Kasich’s massive government expansions, live-tweeted and fact-checked Kasich’s appearance.
How did @JohnKasich get 26% of the black vote last year?
The Democrat running against him *stopped campaigning in August* #NRISummit15

You can tell @JohnKasich is confident in his #Obamacare expansion decision by how he keeps lying about the funding. #caring #NRISummit15

The Case for Kasich:
* Landslide win (against Dem who quit campaigning in August)
* Cares for The Poor (using Obamacare money he lies about)— Jason Hart (@jasonahart) April 23, 2015
.@JohnKasich hasn't cut anyone from the Medicaid rolls? His 2016-17 budget calls for cutting pregnant women at 138% of FPL. #NRISummit15

John "God wants Medicaid expansion" Kasich decrying special interests & out-of-control federal spending. Comedy gold. #NRISummit15
— Jason Hart (@jasonahart) May 1, 2015
Why yes, @JohnKasich did just lie to #NRISummit15 about billions per year in #Obamacare money. That's what liars do. http://t.co/jjevTYPcer

If message is too "ideologically pure" forget about winning Ohio, Kasich tells National review forum #kasich2016

"If it's a divisive, purifying, ideologically pure message, forget about it" – @JohnKasich on Ohio only being winnable for big-gov't Rs
— Jason Hart (@jasonahart) May 1, 2015
Kasich still crowing about his landslide win… against a trainwreck Dem who quit campaigning in August. Adorable. #NRISummit15
— Jason Hart (@jasonahart) May 1, 2015
And if that's what "winning" takes – who cares? Why even bother? https://t.co/2siKMuyVBV

Kasich's "Ohio money back to Ohio" talking point is false. I've been telling you this for more than 2 years. http://t.co/oqdxCAdWUU
— Jason Hart (@jasonahart) May 1, 2015
Kasich's 2016 message is built around lies about #Obamacare funding. @HenryJGomez & @SteveKoff still don't get it http://t.co/A6frIHmK2F

If you’re a reporter covering Kasich and you’re not following and reading Hart’s work, you’re doing it wrong.
