Bizarre PPP poll: Despite losing the debate, Romney won over more Independents?

This is one of the most bizarre polls we’ve seen this campaign season.

Here are the cross-tabs for the “who won the debate” question, stratified by party ID:

You can see that Independents gave the win to President Obama by a margin of 55-40.

Now take a look at these cross-tabs showing how respondents answered when asked if the debate will affect their vote:

In other words, some of the Independents who said Obama won the debate also said they are more likely to vote for Romney as a result of the debate.
