Valor: Three men died taking bullets for girlfriends in Aurora #theatershooting

While it is unbelievably devastating and painfully heartbreaking, the valor and heroics of these three young men remind us of the good in people.

As Twitchy reported last night, Navy veteran and beloved father of two, Jon Blunk, died in the Aurora theater shooting while shielding his girlfriend from bullets. He wasn’t alone; two other men, Matt McQuinn and Alex Teves, also died while saving the lives of their girlfriends.

More from The Daily News:

Three survivors of the Colorado movie-theater massacre escaped with minor wounds, but were left with broken hearts because their heroic boyfriends died saving them.

In final acts of valor, Jon Blunk, Matt McQuinn and Alex Teves used their bodies to shield their girlfriends as accused madman James Holmes turned the Aurora cineplex into a shooting gallery.

Blunk’s girlfriend, Jansen Young; McQuinn’s girlfriend, Samantha Yowler; and Teves’ gal pal Amanda Lindgren made it out of the bloodbath — but they would have been killed had it not been for the loves of their lives.

The horror that occurred in the theater during the Aurora shooting tragedy is nearly impossible to wrap one’s mind around. What evil lurks in the hearts of men? But these three brave souls remind us of what good is in the hearts of men as well. Their valor and courage must not ever be forgotten. Remember these courageous lives lost, snuffed out in their prime, so that the women they loved could live.

Taking a page from General Patton, we will mourn the loss of these brave young men. Our prayers continue to be with the victims and their loved ones.

But we will also give thanks to God that such men lived.
