Your Handy Cheat Sheet as to Why J.D. Vance Was Donald Trump's Perfect Pick

I happen to be blessed enough to hail from one of those families where everyone is a Republican. We don't have anything to fight about at holidays because we are a bunch of people surrounded by people who know we're right. It's lovely.

My family is an unlikely Republican family, though. You see, much like J.D. Vance, my family is from Appalachia. My Dad is from Harlan, Kentucky, When he was young, most of his family and neighbors were Democrats and coal miners. His Dad, however, was a dyed in the wool Republican. Eventually, my grandfather went to work for a Republican Governor of Kentucky (at that time, that was also rare) as a revenuer. When that Republican Governor lost his next election, my grandfather lost his government job, so he packed up his family and moved to Florida. Not surprisingly, the revenuer, who days before was busting up stills, was not very popular and it was the best for their safety. My Dad is proud of his Appalachia roots and we visited Kentucky several times a year. He wanted me to feel a connection to my people. As a result, when J.D. Vance published 'Hillbilly Elegy', I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. It told the story of poor people America has left behind. That book was my first exposure to Vance. Today, that brilliant author was selected to be Donald Trump's running mate. Since I'm the 'political' friend in my friend group, I've received tons of texts this afternoon asking me why Vance is a good pick, so, I am going to my best to assemble all those talking points you can use with your skeptical friends.

I asked some people I respect in conservative circles and Justin was one of the first ones to answer. His list is compelling.

The wonderful Salena Zito also took to Twitter to share this story. His humble roots will certainly be an asset as the party seeks to attract working class voters.

Vance clearly understands the plight of the American worker and is ready to put America First.

As Americans watch our border go unsecured, and as we learn daily of more heinous crimes committed by illegal migrants upon the American people, this rating is crucial.

Vance served our country as a Marine and is against starting new wars and nation building.

Finally, my friend and columnist from our sister site, 'Townhall', Soctt Morefield, was an early proponent of J.D. Vance and wrote this piece back in June. It's also worth a read.

You are now fully prepared to go out and explain to your friends and neighbors why Vance is an excellent complement to Trump and why they are ready to lead on Day 1. Now, lets go win!
