Politicizing the Baltimore Bridge Tragedy and Attacking Conservative Media is a New Low for Geraldo

AP Photo/Matt Rourke

America watched in horror as the bridge in Baltimore fell injuring and killing innocents. As more information is coming to light, it appears most of the lost were people working on the bridge. Media figure, Geraldo Rivero immediately jumped to politicize and blame conservative media for their deaths.

If only conservative media would be nice to illegal aliens, a cargo ship would not have run into the bridge knocking it down? That seems like a whole lot of power for conservative media. I like to think we make a difference with our words, but the ability to make bridges stand up or fall is an impact far beyond my beliefs. I am going to change my name to 'Just Superwoman' if I have that kind of strength.

Bingo. This is the first question the public should be asking. Why are state and local entities contracting with companies who hire illegals? What rules are in place to ensure those companies are being held accountable for their hiring practices? There would have been no 'illegal' workers on the bridge that night if a company hadn't hired them. Maybe the owners of those companies should be hauled in front of some fact finding committees and asked some tough questions. Instead, media is focusing on conservative media? That seems weird.

They hire them because they can pay them next to nothing and they won't complain about safety conditions. Americans may have demanded protections that may have saved lives that night.

They certainly would not have been at that bridge that night.

There is plenty of fault to go around, but none of it belongs to conservative media. Trying to protect American jobs and American workers has nothing to do this tragedy.

The lesson should always be prioritizing the fight for American jobs and ensuring workers have safe conditions. This take by Geraldo is one of his worst, and that is saying a lot since he says so many dumb things lately. Politicizing tragedy is a normal part of American politics, but this opinion doesn't even make sense. This stinker makes his shirtless selfie look like a good idea.
