Lately, I've seen frequent calls for a 'ceasefire' between Israel and the people in Gaza. That's a bit like asking a kid who was jumped by like 10 bullies to not seek any revenge and just head on back to school and pretend nothing happened. Just suck it up and move on. We would never expect someone to do that. So why should we expect Israel to not retaliate after they were going about having a holiday weekend or participating in a music festival and terrorists decided to descend on them and rape, murder and kidnap them. Literally, the worst of what humans can do to each other and people are actually expecting Israel to just put it behind them and move on. Don't count on it.
Guys - don’t bring a slingshot to a gun fight. https://t.co/XacYcb39zU

People upset that Palestinians are about to be way outgunned should advise them to think about that next time before they poke the bear. It would also help to now keep electing Hamas to run the place.
All you have to do is get Hamas to release the hostages and put down their arms.

Then we can have a ceasefire.
Why are you too much of a moral coward to demand this, when it is obviously the ethical thing to do? https://t.co/K70SR4MdSy
Perhaps that would be the START of a ceasefire but there is going to need to be some consequences for those in charge as well.

Jews fight back: “CEASEFIRE!” https://t.co/RUA0ZEHJq2
Funny how that happens.
I've always wanted an immediate ceasefire in every round of fighting between Israelis and Palestinians in the last 20 years. However, like almost the entirety of the Israeli left, we think that a ceasefire is not an option. If you are interested, here's why:

1. There is no way to curtail Hamas without military action. This idea, wherein gradual cooperation with Hamas may be built using diplomacy or withdrawals, was simply proved wrong.
— Michael Gilead (@Michael_Gilead) October 28, 2023
2. Israel cannot continue to exist with an Iran-proxy ISIS-like religious fundamentalist organization sworn to kill all of the Jews in Israel--that continues to amass military power which allows it to do what it intends to do.
— Michael Gilead (@Michael_Gilead) October 28, 2023
3. There is no hope for peace between Israel and Palestine while Hamas continues to amass power. Without its continual suicide bombings, there would have been peace circa 1996, following the Oslo Accords. Without Hamas, Gaza would thrive after Israel has left it.
— Michael Gilead (@Michael_Gilead) October 28, 2023
4. The hypothesis that Hamas cannot be curtailed militarily is likely wrong. Because Israel is unlikely to continue to exist as a relatively liberal, prosperous country without curtailing Hamas--it will likely fight like the Ukrainians, but with a military advantage.

More than 1,400 Jews were murdered in cold blood. Yet now people are calling for “restraint” and a “cease fire.” It’s an insult of the worst kind. #RJCVegas

Exactly. It is insulting to not allow a country to defend itself and to act like Israel is the problem because it insists on keeping its citizens safe. Stop arbitrarily calling for a ceasefire. Insist hostages are released FIRST and Hamas is removed from power. That is the only way forward.
