If you were hoping today would bring us good tidings of great joy and a new Speaker of the House, well, I'm going to disappoint you. Apparently, the GOP Conference decided on Representative Emmer, but then a whole bunch of Republicans said they would not vote for Emmer and therefore, Emmer was going to be a no go.

Then, the news came Emmer is dropping out of the race for Speaker altogether.

This feels like being on a ride at an amusement park, but way less fun and way more nauseating.
🚨New: There are six candidates running for Speaker of the House👇

Byron Donalds (FL-19)
Mike Johnson (LA-04)
Kevin Hern (OK-1)
Chuck Fleischmann (TN-03)
Mark Green (TN-07)
Roger Williams (TX-25) pic.twitter.com/lXkUIf0BOw
So, here is the new list of current prospects for Speaker. Can any of these people make it through to the end? Only time will tell.
LOL nobody wants this job?
— John Bind (@johnbind2) October 24, 2023
Well, to be fair, they want it, but no one can get enough votes.
Wow, what a dumpster fire.

That's putting it politely.

Wait, I haven’t even reached the bottom of my feed yet. I just logged on and seen that he was nominated and now he’s dropped out WTF

You really have to keep your head on swivel around here.
Byron Donalds is the correct choice. Come on Republicans, be the first to select an African American speaker. https://t.co/4bdP5XRFnp

I thought the Puritans banished Roger Williams. Who let him back in? https://t.co/IeKzrGseeu

When the military isn’t funded, Gaetz can explain it to his young enlisted constituents. He will be toast.

I like Byron Donalds, but I think Kevin Hern is the only one who can unite the conference, so he's my first choice out of these candidates.
— Josiah Willemse (@JosiahWillemse) October 24, 2023
If Kevin Hern can indeed unite this party, he deserves a parade.
Hern has the hootspa, the Resume and he’s a big business man like Trump, he’s MAGA, he would never go across the street, he has yuge proven experience on bringing people together, big mistake if he’s not elected as designee seriously.

Maybe he is him. Only time will tell.
You’re stressed about not having a Speaker of the House.
— Jesse Kelly (@JesseKellyDC) October 24, 2023
I’m hoping the gridlock remains for the rest of my life.
We are not the same.
Screw these people. Not having a Speaker isn’t on the Top 1000 list of horrible crap those people have done.
On the other hand, some conservative figures think the lack of a Speaker is just fine and the less they get done, the better. It's actually not a bad thought.
