As it currently stands, it seems that Republican House members may be tentatively agreeing to a 'Speaker Pro Tempore' Patrick McHenry until January.

.@RepMattGaetz Blasts Plan To Empower Speaker Pro Tempore Patrick McHenry

“I'm against Speaker-Light. I'm against Bud Light. I believe it is a constitutional desecration to not elect a Speaker of the House. We need to stay here until we elect a Speaker."

Apparently, Matt Gaetz is not happy with this plan, but until the House can figure out who they can all agree on, it must be so.
🚨 JUST IN: Jim Jordan will NOT be holding a third ballot for Speaker of the House today

After meeting with House leadership this morning, @Jim_Jordan agreed to back Patrick McHenry for interim speaker until January.
At this point, it does NOT seem like Jordan is bowing out,… pic.twitter.com/XwI4EUobj8
Perhaps Jordan is planning some epic gift giving at Christmas and hoping to sway some votes. I mean, there have been worse ideas.
Costco is now offering a 157-piece Le Creuset set for $4,500 that arrives at your home on a PALLET

Probably every kitchen item you will ever need. Worth it? pic.twitter.com/uvdfTGU0s6
This Le Creuset set from Costco is epic and would be appreciated by all. Just saying.
Jordan would have been an improvement over McCarthy, but if this is how it ends, then you really do have to ask: What was the point of it all, @mattgaetz? pic.twitter.com/zNXG5SE5Nw

See, before you blow everything up, you have to have a plan and then a plan B. Right now, to the 'normies' in public, the majority of voters, this just looks like Republicans are incapable of leading. It looks like the GOP is unable to get its collective house in order. Pardon the pun.

It’s 98D Chess, Josh. There are so many Ds in their chess they have to get Maury Povich to reveal the “winner”.
— Chris Loesch 𝕏 (@ChrisLoesch) October 19, 2023
Maury might as well join the scene. It already seems like a bad talk show you watch on the days you stay home sick from work. Maybe, Maury is willing to be Speaker since they don't actually have to be a member of the House to get elected. At this point, I think the only person all of these characters with big personalities could agree on is Dolly Parton. She is the only woman we can all concede is literal perfection. Would Dolly be interested in stepping in and trying to wrangle this circus? Dolly brought the 'Harper Valley PTA' to its knees so maybe she is up to this task.
Our side is not going to be happy with the end of this Movie 🤷♂️

My thoughts exactly. This looks horrible for the GOP. I originally backed Matt Gaetz’s effort, but this “experiment” was a failure.

Some Republican voters seem to gloss over that a not small number of Republican Representatives are hailing from Biden +3 districts and not Trump +18 districts. They are answering to significantly different constituencies, unfortunately, and until very conservative voters stop making good the enemy of the perfect, Republicans will be in disarray and not accomplishing anything of substance. The Republican majority this time was razor thin but the expectations were sky high. Those are two incongruous sentiments. Big things can be done with big majorities. The expectations of this House majority were absolutely out of sync with reality and math.
The important thing is that the libs are now owned. As is the establishment. That’s what matters.

To add insult to injury, Senator Fetterman is putting out the best messaging of his lifetime. When he is sounding like the voice of reason, the Republicans have made a big mistake.
Innocent Israelis were the victims of a terrorist attack that resulted in the largest loss of Jewish lives since the Holocaust.

Now we know that the tragedy at the Gaza hospital was not caused by Israel.
Now is not the time to talk about a ceasefire. We must support Israel in efforts to eliminate the Hamas terrorists who slaughtered innocent men, women, and children.
— Senator John Fetterman (@SenFettermanPA) October 18, 2023
Hamas does not want peace, they want to destroy Israel. We can talk about a ceasefire after Hamas is neutralized.
Yes, I was shocked, too. This is a time when we need clear headed leadership and citizens of our great country need to believe our leaders have the direction of our nation in firm control. Clearly, Biden is not going to offer that assurance. He can barely speak. Kamala is a laughing hyena so that leaves Congress. With our House in disarray, it's quite unsettling, particularly to those people who watch five minutes of news a day in between wrangling kids. This is proving to be a feckless stunt by Republicans and I worry about the consequences voters will dish out in November 2024. Join me in sending hope to our House members for some sanity to prevail.
