Lately, there is a popular, yet possibly harmful narrative developing. To hear the elite media tell the story, there is no need for either major party to have a primary. According to them, the primaries are all but over and Trump will be the GOP candidate and Biden will be the DNC candidate. No need for debates or town halls and frankly why even let people vote.
In fact, the DNC has declared they will not be having debates, and Joe Biden is their guy even though RFK Jr. has about 20% of the party support. To its credit, the GOP is hosting debates, although many popular political pundits have hung their hats on Trump as the candidate. Founder of Turning Point USA, a popular conservative organization, Charlie Kirk, even tweeted as much this week.
Multiple simultaneous efforts underway to stop Trump from becoming President

GOP primary clown show
No Labels red state electoral splicing effort
14th Amendment "Rebellion" disqualification clause
No Democrat primary to boost fundraising for AZ, GA, WI, PA, and NC Dem ballot…
Clown show? Hosting primaries and giving Republican voters the opportunity to vote for their preferred candidate is a clown show? All campaigns not supporting Donald Trump should just close up shop? How strange!
The 2024 presidential primary is over for anyone not named Donald J. Trump.

Even some duly elected officials have declared the primary a wrap. This is nonsense. Of course, voters have the right to make their voices heard and then the party should unite behind the winning candidate. The GOP should not put its finger on the scale of the competition like we have seen Democratic leadership do.
🚨 BREAKING In two new polls released today, @POTUS @JoeBiden expanded his primary lead over Robert Kennedy Jr.

A couple months ago, Kennedy was riding his name recognition to near 20%. Now, after people are seeing how insane he is, his numbers are closer to ten percent.… pic.twitter.com/6O1EQntJ0l
Not to be outdone, Democratic media personalities are also ready to call their primary. They are doing their level best to get voters in line and compliant.
Last week when I complimented RDS as a presidential candidate, Trump fans angrily attacked me and tonight when I challenged something about RDS strategy, RDS fans are questioning my motives and this is going to be a long and extremely annoying campaign season.

Primaries are hard. As someone who writes about conservative politics, I can empathize with Mollie. No matter who you write about, one group or the other will be angry. Taking the heat, particularly on Twitter, can be bruising to the ego. The primaries are very good for candidates though. They face the hard questions and develop their message before they face the Democratic candidate. Coronations aren't good for political parties or the ultimate winner. It makes for a soft contender when they have gone unchallenged

He wants a brutal primary. Earn my vote!
May the best person win. Then... vote for that one in the general.
Vote Republican! ALWAYS!
Indeed! Earn the vote of your constituents. There isn't much we can do to reform the DNC, but we can continue to insist the GOP gives voters a choice. Perhaps Democratic voters will push for reform and not allow elite media and the party bosses to choose their candidates without a proper primary. As Republicans, we can set the example. We can show it's possible to fight fiercely for your candidate of choice and then demonstrate party unity once the votes are counted. We owe it to future generations to preserve this process.
