Today, Governor Ron DeSantis signed a sweeping higher education bill at the New College campus in Florida. The most important development is DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) initiatives are no longer permitted at any Florida public institution of higher learning.

As expected, not everyone was happy with DeSantis signing this ground-breaking legislation and protestors tried to shout the event down.
DeSantis: “I saw some of the protesters out there. I was a little disappointed. I was hoping for more.

DeSantis couldn’t help but make a joke at the protestors’ expense.

Protests outside are growing louder and can be clearly heard as DeSantis works through speakers before signing SB 266, which outlaws state funding for diversity, equity and inclusion programs at Florida colleges and universities

Not one to ever be deterred, New College board member, Chris Rufo, forged ahead with his speech while protestors screamed from outside the room.
“Florida’s farmers, waitresses, and truck drivers should not be subsidizing a permanent bureaucracy of left-wing activists who hate them and hate their values…” https://t.co/rfMG1I2fIZ

Today, was a huge win for the hard-working taxpayers of Florida and the students who choose to attain degrees in Florida institutions. Taxpayer dollars will be well spent and in turn those savings can be passed onto students.
DeSantis claims faculty are clamoring to come to @NewCollegeofFL now.
"When the New College appts were done, when we did those in January, and they reoriented the mission away from the old DEI CRT framework, there's a lot of interest in faculty around the country…— Jacob Ogles (@jacobogles) May 15, 2023
The largest incoming class ever and new faculty clamoring to work at New College? This sounds like a huge win for the good folks of Florida. In recent years, attendance at New College had fallen while other Florida Universities had huge wait lists.

Congratulations @realchrisrufo for another victory against CRT & Race Marxism! May everyone come to recognize the insanity when they see it and be brave enough to stand up against it.

Find the best students should be the goal of education – not dividing them against themselves.

So true! Florida is a great start, but the goal must be ridding all K-12 schools and institutions of higher learning of these divisive teachings.
