Take the number of available “big name” free agent quarterbacks down by one; Matt Flynn signed with the Seattle Seahawks. Flynn, a 7th round draft pick from LSU in 2008, was with the Green Bay Packers is the back-up to All-Pro Aaron Rodgers. Flynn made headlines last year when, in a late-season start against the Detroit Lions, he threw for 480 yards and 6 touchdowns and led his team to a 45-41 victory. His only other start was in 2010, when he threw for over 250 yards and 3 TDs in a loss.
Despite his relative inexperience, lots of teams wanted Flynn, and now the Seahawks have him (which should make my brother, a Seahawk fan from the days of Jim Zorn and Steve Largent quite happy). Instead of swashing buckles and unleashing broadsides on merchant ships, he’ll be dodging defensive lineman and firing shots into the arms of willing receivers.

Now we’re down to Peyton Manning. Expect the buzz to increase exponentially over the next couple of days.
