By now you’ve probably seen the video of President Buzzfeed McSelfiestick’s goofy Obamacare promotion schtick which likely has America’s enemies doubled over with laughter as they plot how to give President Obama his next geopolitical swirly and/or pantsing. The Buzzfeed produced Obamacare commercial came out at the same time as that website’s interview with Obama.
Eric Wemple’s Washington Post blog raised the issue and now there are questions being asked on Twitter about how Buzzfeed reconciles it’s alleged “neutral journalism” with simultaneous blatant promotion of the President’s unpopular healthcare policy.
Hi @shani_o How does Buzzfeed pitching WH Policy square with Buzzfeed's code of ethics you posted? Ben Won't answer. pic.twitter.com/PmuAYuldQA

.@shani_o I'm confused on the policy. Wash Post says Buzzfeed pitched the idea of promoting Obamacare. Who exactly came up with that idea?

.@shani_o I'd rather discuss it here thanks. Was it the editorial division who pitched this idea to the White House?

.@shani_o Was Ben Smith present when this video was pitched or filmed?

.@shani_o Washington Post says both the interview and the Obamacare Ad were pitched together. Who made that pitch? Editorial or Video?

.@shani_o Are Buzfeed editorial and Buzzfeed films two separate legal entities? Can you link me to the code of ethics for Buzzfeed Video?
— Stephen Miller (@redsteeze) February 12, 2015
@redsteeze I’ll wager there is none, as it’s “separate” and “not news”. https://t.co/phoppDvuDd
