Illinois Governor Pat Quinn is one of the least popular governors in the country. He is reportedly under two separate criminal probes by the state’s Inspector General—one for potential illegal hiring practices and another for an “anti-violence program” likened to a slush fund.
It looks like he sees The Left’s current misinformation campaign about the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby ruling as a way to get a bump in his dwindling poll numbers.
@GovernorQuinn where in any constitution does is say that? Did you pass civics class? #lyingforvotes

This Nov., voters will have the chance to help continue the progress we’ve made to protect & empower women in IL http://t.co/8weZtaN3VM

Dear @GovernorQuinn, please know that my empowerment as an Illinois woman is dependent on my work ethic, not my employer covering BC.Cheers!

Women should be able to make their own healthcare decisions. A law I signed today will protect those rights in #IL pic.twitter.com/JhyJNhdwbh

The law he is talking about doesn’t really “protect” anything. It only puts an “advisory referendum” on the November ballot. From the Governor’s press release: @
House Bill 5755, sponsored by State Representative Kelly Cassidy (D-Chicago) and State Senator Iris Martinez (D-Chicago), creates an advisory referendum on November 4 asking whether any health insurance plan in Illinois that provides prescription drug coverage should be required to include prescription birth control as part of that coverage.
It’s not so much a referendum as it is an opinion poll where voters get to say whether they think other people should buy them free stuff. “Protect” seems like an overly strong word to use.
It’s almost as if he’s trying to deceive people. An Illinois Democrat wouldn’t do that, would they? Somebody call Rod Blagojevich or Jesse Jackson Jr or Barack Obama. We need a ruling.
