Democrats hate when Republican money taints the electoral process. Today they are calling for a constitutional amendment to overturn the Citizens United decision.
Their reasoning is that which supports Democrats is good and as it should be, while anything else is an evil outside influence by “special interests.”

The unlimited flow of money will drown out the voices of Americans who can’t afford to buy the protection of the 1st Amendment. #GetMoneyOut

‘Constitution has been amnded time & again to incl. more Americans; these Ct. decisions narrow particip. to favor the wealthy’ #GetMoneyOut

Senate Judiciary Committee holding hearing today on amending the #Constitution to #GetMoneyOut. We need elections, not auctions!
— Rep. Kurt Schrader (@RepSchrader) June 3, 2014
You need a scorecard to keep track of all the straw men.
You shouldn't have to be rich to make your voice count. Proud to lead push to amend Constitution to #GetMoneyOut & overturn #CitizensUnited.
— Mark Udall (@MarkUdall) June 3, 2014
Exactly, if only there was some way for citizens to, say, unite and pool resources to amplify their voices.
Amend the Constitution to #GetMoneyOut. We need to level the playing field and restore our democracy #CitizensUnited #McCutcheon

Today, MoveOn members and allies delivered more than 2 million signatures to amend the Constitution to #GetMoneyOut!
— MoveOn (@MoveOn) June 3, 2014
They also spent more than $50 million to elect Democrats in 2010 and 2012. In 2008 alone they spent almost $40 million in support of left wing candidates. It’s all a game.
.@RepSchrader Does that mean you won't be taking money from Big Unions and Super PACs, Rep?
— Janna Medina (@JannaMedina) June 3, 2014
Certainly not. That’s not how this game is played.
@SenSchumer It's their money, free speech is a good thing.
— AstrO (@Mi_Astronauta) June 3, 2014
Exactly.
The party who jammed Obamacare down our throats is pretending to be concerned about the voice of the people being heard in Washington? Pull the other one.
In short, progressives believe that natural rights like free speech or the right to own private property exist on a sliding scale. The more you are able to exercise that right, the less entitled to it you are because it’s just not fair.
There is one sure way to get money out of politics though…
