The use of remotely controlled drones as weapons has become increasingly controversial and now some are convinced that lethal autonomous weapons (killer robots) might become a reality soon. The United Nations is holding four days of talks on the subject this week, because if you’re talking about a potential apocalypse-inducing technological advancement, you want a crack team of experts like the U.N. to be in charge of that stuff.

The Department of Defense is reportedly researching the question of how to make robots capable of moral and ethical decisions. (Maybe they should try doing that with politicians first. Just saying.)

While some welcome our new robot overlords:
Looking forward to the #Robotapocalypse, where robots do all the work and the rest of us do whatever we want…

You know what I look forward to from the robot apocalypse? The annual Running of the Mechanical Bulls.

And others just remain skeptical:
The more I use technology, the more unlikely I find the prospect of a robot apocalypse.
