George H.W. Bush has a thing for colorful socks: patriotic socks, pink socks, Superman socks and just plain “crazy” socks. The former president’s wife? Not so much.
His cactus-themed socks will be auctioned off at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland’s Harvest Ball on Oct. 26.
“I absolutely love a crazy pair of socks,” President Bush wrote in the letter. “Barbara, on the other hand, has had enough, which is why you are the lucky recipient.”
