IDF spokesperson Avital Leibovich confirmed that warning shots were fired at a crowd of Palestinians hurling rocks at a border fence in the Gaza Strip Friday. Ynet News described the activity near the fence as “riots.”

Trying to breach the fence is “breaking ceasefire,” Leibovich tweeted. The ceasefire agreement took effect on Wednesday, and says that all Palestinian factions must stop “attacks along the border.”

The BBC reports that one Palestinian was shot dead, but the IDF has not confirmed the casualty.

Twitchy will monitor this developing story and update as more information becomes available.

Update:

Ynet also reports that one Palestinian was killed. The crowd included as many as 300 rioters.
